2020-05-18common: Drop linux/bug.h from common headerSimon Glass2-0/+2
Move this uncommon header out of the common header. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
2020-02-05dm: core: Create a new header file for 'compat' featuresSimon Glass2-0/+2
At present dm/device.h includes the linux-compatible features. This requires including linux/compat.h which in turn includes a lot of headers. One of these is malloc.h which we thus end up including in every file in U-Boot. Apart from the inefficiency of this, it is problematic for sandbox which needs to use the system malloc() in some files. Move the compatibility features into a separate header file. 2020-02-05dm: core: Require users of devres to include the headerSimon Glass7-0/+7
At present devres.h is included in all files that include dm.h but few make use of it. Also this pulls in linux/compat which adds several more headers. Drop the automatic inclusion and require files to include devres themselves. This provides a good indication of which files use devres. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini2-5/+2
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>

2017-12-04mtd: nand: Rename nand.h into rawnand.hMasahiro Yamada1-1/+1
This header was renamed to rawnand.h in Linux. The following is the corresponding commit in Linux. commit d4092d76a4a4e57b65910899948a83cc8646c5a5 Author: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Date: Fri Aug 4 17:29:10 2017 +0200 mtd: nand: Rename nand.h into rawnand.h We are planning to share more code between different NAND based devices (SPI NAND, OneNAND and raw NANDs), but before doing that we need to move the existing include/linux/mtd/nand.h file into include/linux/mtd/rawnand.h so we can later create a nand.h header containing all common structure and function prototypes. 2017-10-04treewide: replace with error() with pr_err()Masahiro Yamada1-1/+1
U-Boot widely uses error() as a bit noisier variant of printf(). This macro causes name conflict with the following line in include/linux/compiler-gcc.h: # define __compiletime_error(message) __attribute__((error(message))) This prevents us from using __compiletime_error(), and makes it difficult to fully sync BUILD_BUG macros with Linux. (Notice Linux's BUILD_BUG_ON_MSG is implemented by using compiletime_assert().) Let's convert error() into now treewide-available pr_err(). Done with the help of Coccinelle, excluing tools/ directory. The semantic patch I used is as follows: // <smpl> @@@@ -error +pr_err (...) // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.masahiro@socionext.com> Reviewed-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> [trini: Re-run Coccinelle] Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>

2014-02-19kbuild: use Linux Kernel build scriptsMasahiro Yamada1-6/+3
Now we are ready to switch over to real Kbuild. This commit disables temporary scripts: scripts/{Makefile.build.tmp, Makefile.host.tmp} and enables real Kbuild scripts: scripts/{Makefile.build,Makefile.host,Makefile.lib}. This switch is triggered by the line in scripts/Kbuild.include -build := -f $(if $(KBUILD_SRC),$(srctree)/)scripts/Makefile.build.tmp obj +build := -f $(if $(KBUILD_SRC),$(srctree)/)scripts/Makefile.build obj We need to adjust some build scripts for U-Boot. But smaller amount of modification is preferable. Additionally, we need to fix compiler flags which are locally added or removed. In Kbuild, it is not allowed to change CFLAGS locally. Instead, ccflags-y, asflags-y, cppflags-y, CFLAGS_$(basetarget).o, CFLAGS_REMOVE_$(basetarget).o are prepared for that purpose. 2013-05-31mtd: resync with Linux-3.7.1Sergey Lapin2-16/+16
This patch is essentially an update of u-boot MTD subsystem to the state of Linux-3.7.1 with exclusion of some bits: - the update is concentrated on NAND, no onenand or CFI/NOR/SPI flashes interfaces are updated EXCEPT for API changes. - new large NAND chips support is there, though some updates have got in Linux-3.8.-rc1, (which will follow on top of this patch). To produce this update I used tag v3.7.1 of linux-stable repository. The update was made using application of relevant patches, with changes relevant to U-Boot-only stuff sticked together to keep bisectability. Then all changes were grouped together to this patch. 2012-11-04include/linux/byteorder: import latest endian definitions from linuxKim Phillips1-2/+0
u-boot's byteorder headers did not contain endianness attributions for use with sparse, causing a lot of false positives. Import the kernel's latest definitions, and enable them by including compiler.h and types.h. They come with 'const' added for some swab functions, so fix those up, too: include/linux/byteorder/big_endian.h:46:2: warning: passing argument 1 of '__swab64p' discards 'const' qualifier from pointer target type [enabled by default] Also, note: u-boot's historic __BYTE_ORDER definition has been preserved (for the time being at least). We also remove ad-hoc barrier() definitions, since we're including compiler.h in files that hadn't in the past: macb.c:54:0: warning: "barrier" redefined [enabled by default] In addition, including compiler.h in byteorder changes the 'noinline' definition to expand to __attribute__((noinline)). 2010-11-17Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier1-2/+2
Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
2008-08-21Make the YAFFS filesystem workRemy Bohmer1-1/+4
Recently the YAFFS filesystem support has been added to U-boot. However, just enabling CONFIG_YAFFS2 is not enough to get it working. ymount will generate an exception (when dereferencing mtd->readoob()), because the genericDevice is a null pointer. Further, a lot of logging is produced while using YAFFS fs, so logging should also be disabled. Both issues are solved by this patch. With this patch and CONFIG_YAFFS2 enabled, I get a readable filesystem in U-boot, as well as in Linux. Tested on a Atmel AT91SAM9261EK board.
