2013-04-29dmasound_core: saner arguments for sq_fsync()Al Viro1-3/+3
it is not (and it has never been) an ->fsync() instance... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

2010-09-14sound: autoconvert trivial BKL users to private mutexArnd Bergmann1-20/+21
The usage of the BKL in the OSS sound drivers is trivial, and each of them only locks against itself, so it can be turned into per-driver mutexes. This is the script that was used for the conversion: file=$1 name=$2 if grep -q lock_kernel ${file} ; then if grep -q 'include.*linux.mutex.h' ${file} ; then sed -i '/include.*<linux\/smp_lock.h>/d' ${file} else sed -i 's/include.*<linux\/smp_lock.h>.*$/include <linux\/mutex.h>/g' ${file} fi sed -i ${file} \ -e "/^#include.*linux.mutex.h/,$ { 1,/^\(static\|int\|long\)/ { /^\(static\|int\|long\)/istatic DEFINE_MUTEX(${name}_mutex); } }" \ -e "s/\(un\)*lock_kernel\>[ ]*()/mutex_\1lock(\&${name}_mutex)/g" \ -e '/[ ]*cycle_kernel_lock();/d' else sed -i -e '/include.*\<smp_lock.h\>/d' ${file} \ -e '/cycle_kernel_lock()/d' fi Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2010-07-12sound/oss: convert to unlocked_ioctlArnd Bergmann1-7/+28
These are the final conversions for the ioctl file operation so we can remove it in the next merge window. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2010-07-12sound: push BKL into open functionsArnd Bergmann1-6/+22
This moves the lock_kernel() call from soundcore_open to the individual OSS device drivers, where we can deal with it one driver at a time if needed, or just kill off the drivers. All core components in ALSA already provide adequate locking in their open()-functions and do not require the big kernel lock, so there is no need to add the BKL there. 2009-11-07sound: Replace old style lock initializerThomas Gleixner1-1/+3
SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED is deprecated. Use __SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED instead. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2008-11-01oss: fix O_NONBLOCK in dmasound_coreAl Viro1-2/+2
We broke O_NONBLOCK handling in OSS dmasound_core in 2.3.11-pre3 - the original code copied f_flags to open_mode and then checked for O_NONBLOCK in there, but that got changed to copying f_mode and O_NONBLOCK has not reached that field in any kernel version. Since we do not care for any other bits, the fix is obvious... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 9Arjan van de Ven1-3/+3
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. 2006-03-25[PATCH] Remove MODULE_PARMRusty Russell1-5/+5
MODULE_PARM was actually breaking: recent gcc version optimize them out as unused. It's time to replace the last users, which are generally in the most unloved drivers anyway. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
