2013-01-30[SCSI] cxgb4i: Remove the scsi host device when removing deviceThadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo1-0/+1
When doing a hotplug remove of a cxgb4 device, there are still dandling symlinks at /sys/class/scsi_host/hostX to the removed PCI device. The upper layer device may also try to send data, which may crash the system. The DETACH message from the lower level driver is sent to the ULD when the device is removed, when the scsi host should be removed from the system, avoiding any problems. After this patch, there are no more dangling symlinks and many attempts to crash the system while there is SCSI activity and removing the device have failed. Adding the device back again works as expected, with the scsi hosts showing up again. Based on a patch by Karen Xie. Pull first round of SCSI updates from James Bottomley: "The most important feature of this patch set is the new async infrastructure that makes sure async_synchronize_full() synchronizes all domains and allows us to remove all the hacks (like having scsi_complete_async_scans() in the device base code) and means that the async infrastructure will "just work" in future. The rest is assorted driver updates (aacraid, bnx2fc, virto-scsi, megaraid, bfa, lpfc, qla2xxx, qla4xxx) plus a lot of infrastructure work in sas and FC. 2012-01-10[SCSI] libcxgbi: do not print a message when memory allocation failsThadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo1-2/+3
In alloc_pdu, libcxgbi tries to allocate a skb with GFP_ATOMIC, which may potentially fail. When it happens, the current code prints a warning message. When the system is under IO stress, this failure may happen lots of times and it usually scares users. Instead of printing the warning message, the code now increases the tx_dropped statistics for the ethernet interface wich is doing the iscsi task. The result is the oops above, when t3_l2t_get attempts to dereference L2DATA(cdev)->nentries in arp_hash right after the EEH error handler sets it to NULL. The fix is to prevent the setting of the NULL pointer until after there are no further users of it. The t3cdev->l2opt pointer is now converted to be an rcu pointer and the L2DATA macro is now called under the protection of the rcu_read_lock(). When the EEH error path: t3_adapter_error->offload_close->cxgb3_offload_deactivate Is exectured, setting of that l2opt pointer to NULL, is now gated on an rcu quiescence point, preventing, allowing L2DATA callers to safely check for a NULL pointer without concern that the underlying data will be freeded before the pointer is dereferenced. This has been tested by the reporter and shown to fix the reproted oops [nhorman: fix up unitinialised variable reported by Dan Carpenter] Signed-off-by: Neil Horman <nhorman@tuxdriver.com> Reviewed-by: Karen Xie <kxie@chelsio.com> Cc: stable@kernel.org Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <JBottomley@Parallels.com>

2010-12-13net: Abstract default ADVMSS behind an accessor.David S. Miller1-1/+1
Make all RTAX_ADVMSS metric accesses go through a new helper function, dst_metric_advmss(). Leave the actual default metric as "zero" in the real metric slot, and compute the actual default value dynamically via a new dst_ops AF specific callback. For stacked IPSEC routes, we use the advmss of the path which preserves existing behavior. Unlike ipv4/ipv6, DecNET ties the advmss to the mtu and thus updates advmss on pmtu updates. This inconsistency in advmss handling results in more raw metric accesses than I wish we ended up with. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
