In commit 887cbce0adea ("arch Kconfig: centralise ARCH_NO_VIRT_TO_BUS") I introduced the config sybmol HAVE_VIRT_TO_BUS and selected that where needed. I am not sure what I was thinking. All architectures have CONFIG_GENERIC_KERNEL_THREAD CONFIG_GENERIC_KERNEL_EXECVE __ARCH_WANT_SYS_EXECVE None of them have __ARCH_WANT_KERNEL_EXECVE and there are only two callers of kernel_execve() (which is a trivial wrapper for do_execve() now) left. 2012-09-28Make most arch asm/module.h files use asm-generic/module.hDavid Howells1-0/+1
Use the mapping of Elf_[SPE]hdr, Elf_Addr, Elf_Sym, Elf_Dyn, Elf_Rel/Rela, ELF_R_TYPE() and ELF_R_SYM() to either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version into asm-generic/module.h for all arches bar MIPS. Also, use the generic definition mod_arch_specific where possible. To this end, I've defined three new config bools: (*) HAVE_MOD_ARCH_SPECIFIC Arches define this if they don't want to use the empty generic mod_arch_specific struct. (*) MODULES_USE_ELF_RELA Arches define this if their modules can contain RELA records. This causes the Elf_Rela mapping to be emitted and allows apply_relocate_add() to be defined by the arch rather than have the core emit an error message. (*) MODULES_USE_ELF_REL Arches define this if their modules can contain REL records. This causes the Elf_Rel mapping to be emitted and allows apply_relocate() to be defined by the arch rather than have the core emit an error message. Note that it is possible to allow both REL and RELA records: m68k and mips are two arches that do this. With this, some arch asm/module.h files can be deleted entirely and replaced with a generic-y marker in the arch Kbuild file. Additionally, I have removed the bits from m32r and score that handle the unsupported type of relocation record as that's now handled centrally. 2012-05-21timers: Fixup the Kconfig consolidation falloutThomas Gleixner1-1/+0
Sigh, I missed to check which architecture Kconfig files actually include the core Kconfig file. There are a few which did not. So we broke them. Instead of adding the includes to those, we are better off to move the include to init/Kconfig like we did already with irqs and others. This does not change anything for the architectures using the old style periodic timer mode. It just solves the build wreckage there. For those architectures which use the clock events infrastructure it moves the include of the core Kconfig file to "General setup" which is a way more logical place than having it at random locations specified by the architecture specific Kconfigs. The pci_iomap variant that arch/mn10300/unit-asb2305/pci-iomap.c uses differs from the generic one in that it does not use ioremap_nocache for PCI addresses. However, due to the functionality being important and around for awhile, there apparently were some out of tree hardware enablement patches that used it and have since been merged. Also, move on_each_cpu() to kernel/smp.c, it is strange to put it in kernel/softirq.c. For arch which doesn't use USE_GENERIC_SMP_HELPERS, e.g. blackfin, only on_each_cpu() is compiled. 2010-03-13mn10300: Convert mn10300 to use read/update_persistent_clockJohn Stultz1-0/+3
This patch converts the mn10300 architecture to use the generic read_persistent_clock and update_persistent_clock interfaces, reducing the amount of arch specific code we have to maintain, and allowing for further cleanups in the future. I have not built or tested this patch, so help from arch maintainers would be appreciated.
